Can online lessons be as effective as face-to-face lessons?
In short - Yes! In fact, if done correctly, online lessons are even more effective than face-to-face lessons. At EasyMaths, we use online whiteboards that are interactive and allow our tutors to import questions and annotate them, making online lessons much more visual than face-to-face lessons.
Our online lessons give our students a consistent place to learn, where the FULL hour can be utilised every time. There is no set-up needed, no gathering pens and paper, and no printouts. The whole hour is focused on learning.
What's more, students can access their previous whiteboards and homework via Google Drive, so they can always go back and revise older content.
How do EasyMaths lessons work?
It's Easy! Our maths specialist tutors usually spend 5 minutes recapping the main points of the last lesson, then spend 50 minutes teaching and answering exam-style questions with the student to make sure your child is engaged. This leaves 5 minutes to explain the homework, take any questions, and summarise the main points of the lesson. Our tutors are usually quite flexible, so you will usually get a bonus 5 minutes if the tutor feels it will benefit the student.
We use Google Meets as a platform for lessons and Microsoft Whiteboard to teach and display exam-style questions. After the lesson, your child can access the Whiteboard notes and homework on their secure and private Google Drive. We also post valuable and important tips/questions on there so keep an eye out!
Your EasyMaths tutor will make a WhatsApp group chat with the student and the parent(s) of the student. Students are more likely to achieve better results and complete homework if a parent is present in a child's tutoring, so we do just that!
What makes EasyMaths better than other tutoring sites?
At EasyMaths, we pride ourselves in not only being specialist maths tutors (who ONLY teach maths), but also in being more than a tutor. We are mentors that will give our time to students outside of lesson hours, by providing homework help, giving advice, and much more.
If you need study tips, career advice, help in getting into your desired college/sixth form/university, your EasyMaths tutor is the person to go to!
Who will my EasyMaths tutor be?
All of our tutors are maths only tutors, meaning they have years of experience in teaching just maths. This gives us an edge over other tuition centres and sites because we are experts in teaching maths.
Your EasyMaths tutor will be carefully selected based on the information you give us.
EasyMaths tutors are all DBS checked, interviewed, and scrutinised to make sure only the best tutors are selected.
In the case that you want to change your tutor, just contact us via our 'Contact' page and we will arrange a transfer!

Do you offer face-to-face tuition?
At the moment, our face-to-face tuition is limited only to our centre in Aldershot, UK. Our lessons are mainly online because we found that students can find our quality tutors at just the click of a button over a screen. Our students prefer it this way as they don't need to travel to a centre, saving them time and energy!
Do you do group tutoring or only one-to-one?
At EasyMaths, we focus on one-to-one tutoring because it is proven to be much more effective than group tutoring. With one-to-one tutoring, your child gets full attention and the whole hour is focused entirely on the student's needs to ensure they are getting the most out of the hour, while keeping the lessons fun. We love to challenge our students, and our tutors are professionals at gauging a student's level and giving just the right level of work to make maths challenging and fun, but not stressful.
How do I contact my EasyMaths tutor?
At EasyMaths we use WhatsApp group chats that have the tutor, the student and the parent(s) of the student. You can always message for general support, homework help, and anything else that you deem appropriate to message a mentor. Our tutors are not only here to teach for an hour, but we also pride ourselves in giving extra help to our students. If the EasyMaths tutor has time to answer any question and provide homework help, they will always do so.
Why do you need my card details?
We understand that it might be quite daunting putting your card details online. This is why we use Stripe, one of the largest and most secure global payment system, to take payments. We require this to pay for the weekly subscriptions so that your lessons can be smooth and you don't need to remember and worry about your weekly payments being late or missed!
What do I do if my payment failed?
Don't worry, just contact us via the 'Contact' page or your tutor directly and they will send this to our Payments department.
There are a few reasons why payments do not go through.
- Not enough funds in the payment card
- Card has expired
- Card has been replaced
- Your bank has blocked the payment card from being used
- And many more reasons...
In any case, our system will pick this up and we will usually get in contact with you first and tell you why we think the payment has failed. Stripe will retry to take payment, but if the payment continues to fail, we will 'freeze' your future lessons until payment is made - this is usually very easy and quick via a payment link.
I missed a lesson - What should I do?
Don't worry! Our tutors are trained to notify you when you are 5 minutes late to a lesson in case you forgot to attend.
If you can't make it to a lesson, you should let your tutor know as soon as possible so they can schedule this in and reschedule your lesson.
If it's your first time missing a lesson, your lesson will be rescheduled free of charge! Please contact your tutor directly if you miss additional lessons.
How long should I stay at EasyMaths?
As a general rule of thumb, you should enrol your child as soon as possible so that they can get as much 1-to-1 time as possible with our tutors. We suggest having an EasyMaths tutor by your side throughout their GCSE years (year 9-11) as this is when most students find maths difficult and can't keep up with school work.
If you are in the position where your child is in year 11 and is falling behind, feel free to book a free trial with us and see the EasyMaths methodology in action.
Students should stay at EasyMaths until their exams to get as much exam tips from our excellent tutors, who get their information directly from maths examiners.
How many lessons per week should I choose?
After your child's free trial, the tutor will speak to both the parent and student to discuss what they think the student needs. Depending on what the tutor thinks is best for the needs of the student moving forward, they will recommend either 1, 2 or 3 lessons per week.
However, this is just a recommendation, and is ultimately up to the parent and child to decide what they believe to be right amount of maths tutoring.
Can my EasyMaths tutor help me with school work?
Our EasyMaths tutors are not only tutors for the hour, but also a mentor for their allocated students. Tutors are selected and trained to guide students through school issues they may have, including homework that they find difficult. If their schedule allows, you can send any questions to the WhatsApp group chat. Once free, they will reply with information that will help you to complete the homework.
Please be mindful of the time that you message our tutors!
